Things to do in Red Rock Canyon

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area sits about 17 miles (27 km) west of the Strip, roughly a 30-minute drive, making it the closest proper desert scenery to Las Vegas hotels. Entry fees for 2026 are $20 per vehicle, $10 per motorcycle, $8 per bicycle, and $5 per pedestrian.

From October to May, an 8am-5pm timed entry reservation is required to drive the 13-mile (21 km) one-way scenic loop; without a booking made online in advance, cars are turned away at the entrance station.

In summer, midday highs regularly top 40ยฐC (104ยฐF), so short hikes are best done at sunrise or sunset rather than midday.
