Things to do in Kanab and the slot canyons

5 hours by car, and works best as a base for the slot canyons on Bureau of Land Management land nearby, including Peek-a-boo Gulch and Buckskin Gulch. These are not National Park Service sites: entry runs on separate BLM permits or day-use passes, usually a few dollars per person, arranged locally or in advance rather than at a park gate.

The final access roads to several trailheads are unpaved and can become impassable without four-wheel drive after rain. The BLM documents a genuine flash flood risk in these narrow canyons, so checking the weather forecast before entering is not optional. Plan half a day for a single shorter canyon, or a full day if you are combining two.
