Things to do in Downtown & Fremont Street

Downtown Las Vegas, centred on the Fremont Street Experience, sits about 6-7 kilometres north of the Strip, roughly 10-15 minutes away by car or taxi. This is the older, original Las Vegas gaming district, covered by a pedestrian-only stretch of Fremont Street beneath a five-block LED canopy that runs a free light-and-sound show several times each evening.

That show is genuinely free and open to anyone walking through. The SlotZilla zipline strung above the same street is a separate, paid attraction, typically running somewhere in the $35-100 range depending on the route and current pricing, and it is not part of the free show. The area reads as more local and less family-oriented than the Strip once night falls.

One evening is enough to cover the core few blocks on foot.
